Wind surfing site

Wind surfing site

On the shores of the St. Lawrence River, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré features a convenient site of exceptional quality for wind surfing and kitesurfing. When the wind blows from a south-westerly direction, the site has the advantage of a “corridor effect” generated by Île d’Orléans and Mont-Sainte-Anne. Often, on sunny summer days, when a south-westerly wind registers 10 knots at Québec City, its velocity will increase to 20-25 knots at Sainte-Anne. The corridor phenomenon is caused by the sun which interacts with the mountains to create a thermal effect. The site is located behind Centre Sainte-Anne. Due to currents and tidal effects, the intermediate level is recommended.
